Scripps News Unveils Plans for Streaming Television Content
Scripps News is set to transition to a streaming-only network starting November 18, marking a significant shift in the media landscape. The new schedule, designed to provide live in-depth storytelling on major events across the country, will offer live programming on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Matt Simon, Vice President of Scripps News, has been appointed to lead the network moving forward. Simon stated that streaming is the future of the business and that Scripps News is well-positioned to reach more viewers there.
The programming lineup includes several new shows. "Morning Rush" kicks off the day with live headlines, weather, and award-winning reporting from Scripps News journalists around the world, airing from 7 a.m.-noon (ET). "On the Scene" follows, where reporters take audiences to breaking news and live events across the country, airing from noon-5 p.m. (ET). "Today As It Happened" gets viewers up to speed on the day's events that everyone is talking about, airing from 6-7 p.m. (ET).
In the evening, "Happening Now in America" follows what's happening across America with up-to-the-minute details on major events driving the day's top stories, airing from 5-6 p.m. (ET). "The National Report" features fast-paced headlines and stories from across America, airing weekdays from 11 p.m.-3 a.m. and 6-7 a.m. (ET).
Weekends will offer a mix of original reporting and uplifting stories. "Scripps News Weekend" airs from 7 a.m.-noon (ET) on Saturdays, providing viewers with a mix of headlines, original reporting from the nation's big cities and small towns, and uplifting stories. "Good to Know" airs at noon on Saturdays, featuring real-life stories of everyday people who positively impact their communities. "This Week as it Happened" gets audiences caught up on all the big stories and breaking news from the week, airing from 2-7 p.m. (ET) on Saturdays.
Scripps News will also periodically air special programs from its investigative and enterprise teams on all of its streaming platforms. A new program, "In the Shadows With Jason Bellini," featuring Scripps News' award-winning international correspondent Jason Bellini, is set to debut next week.
