Second-round proceedings of the Irish Derby set to unfold
The second round of the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby is set to begin on Friday, August 29, and continue through Saturday, August 30. The qualifiers for the €125,000 event will take place across these two nights.
Heat 1 of the second round will feature Lennies Dream, Droopys Patriot, Harlequin Paul, Shanahee Boomer, Tarsna Maasai, Betgoodwin Ben, Callaway Five, and Ballymac Danica.
Heat 2 will see Swithins Jim, Fahee Phantom, Seven Beach, Coosane Pickles, Desert Flower, Magical Mag, Ballyhooly Bruno, and De Lahdedah compete.
The third heat of the second round will feature Magical Mag, Ballyhooly Bruno, De Lahdedah, In Good Time, Ballinabola Jim, Desert Flower, Coosane Pickles, and Callaway Five.
Heat 4 will include Ballymac Stud, Magical On Fire, Doctor Darcy, Ballymac Stud, Droopys Orator (male), and Lemon Joey (female).
Heat 5 will feature Hackney Corner, Priceless Romeo, Great Morning, Blastoff Heffo, Cushie The Best (male), and The Other Wild (female).
Heat 6 will consist of Faypoint Ranger, Sunshine Sioux, Prince Naseem, Slipalong Duke, Ballymac Tibet (male), and Bombay Pat (female).
Heat 7 will include Hopes Teddy, Ballymac Lake, Westway Rossa, Triangle Brando, Highview Plan (male), and Magical Sapphire (female).
Heat 8 will feature Maireads Diamond, Harry Houdini, Barefoot On Song, Daraghs Sydney, Town Lucky (male), and Ballinabola Joe (female).
Heat 9 will consist of No More Fiftys, Badly Behaving, Swords Style, Magical Keith, Droopys Slick (male), and Droopys Deploy (female).
Heat 10 will feature Phoenix Memphis, Cagey Billy, Callaway Knegare, Timmys Bucks, Glengar Silent (male), and Lennies Madge (female).
Heat 11 will consist of Hackey Tango, De Bono Lad, Coloursaregreen, Toolmaker King, Rural Pest (male), and Alva Mist (female).
The defending champion of the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby from last year, Edenderry Princess, will be running in heat 4 of the first round on Friday, August 29.
The third-round heats will be held on Saturday, September 6, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday, September 20. The final will take place on Saturday, September 27. The second round draw for the event took place on Saturday in Dublin.
