In the quiet town of Alfter-Witterschlick, a basement fire broke out early on Saturday morning. The Volunteer Fire Department of Alfter Municipality, along with firefighters from Impekoven and Witterschlick fire stations, were alerted to the scene around 08:00.

Residents noticed smoke coming from the basement of the affected home, prompting the immediate response from the fire department. Firefighters used protective gear and a mobile smoke barrier to fight the fire, successfully containing it to the current extent, preventing further spread within the building.

According to Hesse, one person was transported to a hospital due to suspected smoke inhalation. Another resident was examined on-site by emergency services but remained unharmed.

Two ambulances from the Rhein-Sieg district were part of the operation, and the suspect with suspected smoke inhalation was transported to LKH Hall in Tyrol hospital for further treatment.

Fire command from Alfter was also present at the scene, coordinating the efforts of the volunteer firefighters. The incident involved significant property damage to a single-family home.
