buildingSMART Germany Announces BIM Champions 2026 Competition

buildingSMART Germany is seeking outstanding projects and work in Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the BIM Champions 2026 competition. The competition, divided into two phases, is open to clients, designers, contractors, operators, suppliers, and students.

The competition honours projects and work that showcase innovative and forward-thinking applications of the BIM method in high-rise, infrastructure, and civil engineering construction. It consists of seven categories: Design, Construction, Building Suppliers, Operation/Maintenance, Technology/Innovation/Solutions, Work by Apprentices and Students, and Sustainability.

The first phase requires digital submissions via the application platform, which is available here. The deadline for the first phase is September 30, 2025. Submissions will be reviewed by an independent jury of renowned experts, who will select the best entries for the final round.

In the final round, participants must submit a promotional film (duration: approx. 10 to max. 12 minutes) that clearly presents the key aspects of their submission. The award for Work by Apprentices and Students includes 2,000 euros in prize money and inclusion in the buildingSMART Campus.

Clients are encouraged to participate in the competition, ideally in cooperation with designers, contractors, operators, or suppliers. The competition aims to showcase innovative and forward-thinking applications of the BIM method, with a focus on resource conservation and environmental protection in the Sustainability category.

The deadline for the final round will be determined after the selection of submissions for the final round. At the moment, there are no search results explicitly naming the jury chairperson for the BIM Champions 2026 in Germany.
