Self-employed individuals in Dormagen city spur ahead with central development initiatives in construction

In the heart of Germany, Dormagen's Municipal Enterprise (ED) is making significant strides in shaping the city's future. Responsible for key construction projects, ranging from school construction to heritage preservation and modern infrastructure, ED is at the forefront of progress.

One of ED's primary focuses is sustainability. All new construction and renovation projects adhere to this principle, with a goal to meet at least the DGNB standard in silver. An upcoming project, the new Realschule Hackenbroich, will mark an important step towards sustainable construction by utilising green steel.

ED's long-term personnel strategy is another area of emphasis. Key elements include regular demand analyses, continuous training, flexible working models, systematic succession planning, innovative recruitment, the promotion of leadership skills, and interdisciplinary cooperation.

The firefighting equipment house in Stürzelberg, recently completed, is a testament to ED's commitment to sustainability. Built to the high DGNB gold standard, it covers an area of 1,159 square meters and cost 6.3 million euros. The children's fire brigade will have their own rooms for the first time in this facility.

Two significant educational projects on ED's agenda for 2021 are the Lernort Horrem and the new Realschule Hackenbroich. These complex projects, due to their financial and organisational requirements, are considered key challenges for ED.

In addition to these projects, ED is working on improving quality and efficiency in the long term. This includes digital processes, systematic property documentation, and an improved ticket system for internal requests. ED is also focusing on the continuous development and legally secure documentation of operational responsibility.

ED has also tendered new framework contracts to ensure greater flexibility and reliability in commissioning external planners and trades. Moreover, ED is implementing numerous major projects and working on internal structures to improve processes, with a goal to achieve these objectives by 2025.

Notably, the historic Alte Schule in Delhoven has been renovated after decades of vacancy and will be reopened on December 11th, exactly 200 years after its original inauguration. The construction costs for the Alte Schule renovation remained around 1.2 million euros, well below the allocated funds, and it will be used as a community center in the future.

As ED continues to evolve, the search for specialists in operator responsibility and landscape architecture remains ongoing. The names of the sought-after professionals have not been found in the available search results at this time.

The Offene Ganztagsschule (OGS) Stürzelberg is undergoing comprehensive expansion and renovation, with the construction of a new gymnasium and design of outdoor facilities included in the project. ED's dedication to sustainable, efficient, and high-quality construction projects continues to shape Dormagen's future.
