Senior citizen from Neufelder Fleth succumbs to death and is found deceased on Tuesday.
In the quiet town of Marne, a tragic incident unfolded on Roentgen Street on Tuesday afternoon. A rescue operation was initiated after an elderly woman, a resident of Marne, was reportedly found lifeless in the water of Neufelder Fleth.
A passerby discovered the woman and her rollator near the water, prompting immediate action from the local volunteer fire department in Marne. They swiftly responded to the scene, pulling the woman out of the water. The fire department vehicles were joined by two ambulances and a doctor's emergency vehicle, as well as rescue divers from Itzehoe, who were also alerted.
Despite resuscitation efforts, the woman, aged 88, tragically passed away at the scene. The cause of her death remains uncertain, and the investigation is now being conducted by the criminal police in Heide.
Initially, the criminal duty service (KDD) from Pinneberg investigated the incident. However, the police have since handed over the investigation to the criminal police in Heide. It cannot be said whether the woman accidentally fell into the water or if there was any external involvement.
The scene at Neufelder Fleth remained blocked due to the ongoing operation, with the view along the waterway obstructed. After a few minutes, the fire department vehicles were able to leave the scene.
The police car, an ambulance, and the doctor's emergency vehicle remained on the scene, marking a sombre end to the rescue operation. As the investigation continues, the community of Marne mourns the loss of one of its own.
