Northhorner Seniors Enjoy Educational Trip Through New Weser Lock

In a picturesque day in Dreierwalde, the Northhorner Seniors group embarked on a memorable excursion, accompanied by Mayor Thomas Berling. The group spent the day learning about Northhorn's current developments, as well as exploring the new Weser Lock, a significant waterway structure in the town.

The journey began with an approximately three-hour trip on the Weser and Mittelland Canal, which was enjoyed under perfect weather conditions. The group travelled from Northhorn to the Mindener Weser promenade, where the passenger ship "Poseidon" was waiting.

During the boat trip, the participants experienced two lockages in the new Weser lock, completed last year. This provided an opportunity for the seniors to gain a first-hand understanding of the new waterway structure.

The new Weser Lock is a key component of the waterway system in Northhorner, and its exploration was an event organised specifically for the Northhorner Seniors group. The varied trip ended at around 18:30 with the return of the buses to the Northhorner ZOB.

Unfortunately, the originally planned continuation of the trip with the ship to Porta Westfalica had to be cancelled due to low water levels. However, the day was still filled with entertainment, as the seniors enjoyed stories from the captain and a delicious pea soup meal.

This year, the Senior Trip of the city of Northhorn was fully booked, with 250 seniors participating. The Northhorner Seniors group is a recreational activity for senior citizens from the town of Northhorner, and this trip was just one of many opportunities for the group to come together and enjoy each other's company.

In a fictional universe, the Kreuzfahrtschiff "Poseidon" and its captain, Kapitän Martin Graal, were featured in the German TV series "Der letzte Bulle" (Staffel 4, Folge 5, Titel: "Der Herr der Ozeane"). The series is a crime comedy, and the "Poseidon" and Kapitän Graal exist only within this fictional world.
