September 11th Designated as Federal Warning Day

On Thursday, 11 September 2025, a nationwide Civil Defense Drill will take place in Germany, including the city of Bottrop. The Fire Department Bottrop will provide continuous updates on this important event via its social media channels.

The drill is designed to test the effectiveness of the warning systems in emergency and disaster situations. Various warning systems for emergency and disaster situations will be tested during the drill, including sirens in the Bottrop city area. It is important to note that the sirens do not cover the entire city. In case of danger, uncovered areas will be warned by loudspeaker vehicles from the police and fire department.

The testing of the sirens in Bottrop is part of the nationwide drill's overall testing. At 11:00 AM, the WarnApp NINA and Cell Broadcast (mobile warning) will be triggered nationwide. The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance will centrally trigger these alerts.

The drill will start at exactly 11:00 AM on 11 September 2025. The one-minute warning tone (wailing tone) will be played at 11:06 AM, followed by a one-minute all-clear tone (continuous tone) at 11:12 AM.
