Severe Collision on A59 Close to Duisburg - One Critically and Three Moderately Hurt - Full Road Closure Enforced
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A59 near Duisburg. The incident took place around 14:25, close to the Düsseldorf area, near the Duissern district.
According to initial investigations, the accident was likely caused by a medical emergency. The unfortunate event involved three vehicles, one of which was a VW Transporter carrying two female passengers aged 68 and 71 from Duisburg, and driven by a 69-year-old man.
The incident began when a 53-year-old man from Duisburg was driving an Audi A6 towards Dinslaken. It appears that he lost control of his vehicle, lightly touching a Citroen Jumpy driven by a 59-year-old man from Dortmund. This initial collision then led to the VW Transporter being involved in the accident.
The 53-year-old man sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, though the specific location remains undisclosed. Unfortunately, the driver who lost control of his car was the most severely injured party. The three occupants of the VW Transporter were slightly injured.
All vehicles involved in the accident were so badly damaged that they had to be towed away. The police officer handling the accident investigation case is currently not publicly disclosed.
