Severe road collision in Bochum: 27-year-old driver crashes into a tree, causing 20-year-old passenger to be ejected from the vehicle
On July 23rd, a traffic accident occurred in Bochum, Germany. The incident took place at approximately 10:35 AM near the Friedrich-Lueg-Straße intersection.
According to the Traffic Police Department ("Verkehrskommissariat") in Siegen, who took over the investigation, the accident involved a car on Berliner Straße towards Wattenscheid. The driver, a 27-year-old man from Hattingen, lost control of the vehicle near the intersection, veering off the road and hitting two trees on the median before spinning diagonally across the road.
As a result of the collision, the driver and the passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Mülheim an der Ruhr, were taken to the hospital by ambulance and admitted for inpatient treatment. Tragically, the passenger was ejected from the convertible and sustained severe injuries.
A voluntary drug test conducted on the driver tested positive for cannabis. A blood sample was also taken for further analysis.

The accident scene was closed for several hours for investigation. Specialists from the Bochum Police's traffic accident investigation team were involved in the case.
