Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy Prepare for Busy Tournament Run

Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy, two of Ireland's top golfers, are gearing up for a busy schedule of tournaments, culminating in the Ryder Cup.

In the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational, Lowry finished seventh, but his performance off the tee was less impressive, losing 1.153 shots in terms of Strokes Gained: Off the Tee. In a bid to improve his driving accuracy, Lowry has switched to the Srixon ZXi LS+ driver for the tournament at The K Club.

At the Irish Open, Lowry's first round saw him hit 78.6% of fairways, ranking him 11th in the field. His driving distance of 296.5 yards, while five yards further than the tournament average, only ranks him 131st on the PGA Tour. Lowry produced a one-under 71 on Friday at the Irish Open.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy is currently in a share of third place at The K Club, having played two rounds with scores of 71 and 66. McIlroy has also made changes to his equipment, swapping his TaylorMade MG4 wedges for the new TaylorMade MG5s. His wedges include a 46°, 50°, 54°, and 60° (bent to 61°).

However, there is no specific information available about McIlroy changing his golf bag handlers in recent weeks. McIlroy is aiming to help Team Europe retain the Ryder Cup trophy on American soil at Bethpage Black.

Both Lowry and McIlroy have committed to the DP World Tour's BMW PGA Championship, which comes before the Ryder Cup. After the BMW PGA Championship, they will head to Bethpage Black.

Lowry has used multiple drivers throughout the 2025 season, including three different drivers for three different rounds at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He has expressed satisfaction with the new Srixon ZXi LS+, but cautioned that it is only one day's worth of data.

As they prepare for the upcoming tournaments, both Lowry and McIlroy will need to maintain their form and continue to make adjustments to their games to compete at the highest level.
