Sharjah's Industrial Area 6 will undergo renovation within the next two years as part of a Dh283-million project.
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates — Sharjah Industrial Area 6 is set to undergo a significant infrastructure redevelopment project, marking the second phase of these upgrades. The announcement was made by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
The project, which is part of Sharjah's broader plan to modernise its industrial zones, includes a comprehensive overhaul of the area's infrastructure. This includes a new road network of 19km, 4,025 parking spaces, 40km of footpaths, 250 traffic signs, a sewage network of 16km, drainage network of 14km, firefighting network of 12km with 256 systems, a surveillance network of 9km, street lighting of 20km, water network of 14km, gas network of 18km, electricity network of 12km, telecom network of 9km, and a sewage pumping station.
The redevelopment of Industrial Area 6 follows the successful completion of Industrial Area 10 in 2020. The revamped area saw higher land values, better services, and the opening of 460 new businesses. This redevelopment is expected to bring similar benefits to Sharjah Industrial Area 6.
While Industrial Area 6 will maintain its industrial character, Industrial Area 7 and the former Al Nahda Industrial Area are being redeveloped and converted into investment, residential, and commercial districts. This transformation aims to enhance mobility, ease traffic congestion, and support efficient logistics for industrial establishments. Improved sidewalks and parking for both cars and heavy trucks are part of the project plan.
The projects are under the supervision of Dr Engineer Ihsan Al Hosani, Director of Projects at the Authority for Initiatives Implementation (Mubadara). The contractor has received the land for the project, and construction plans have been approved. Full camera coverage will be installed across the area as part of an advanced surveillance system.
The projects are in line with the directives of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi to enhance infrastructure and boost competitiveness. Work on the project will start immediately, and it is expected to be completed within two years. The total cost for developing Industrial Areas 6, 7, and the Al Nahda area is Dh416 million.
However, no information was provided about any new projects related to rock art, birdwatching, mountain roads, or land plots allocation for citizens in Khor Fakkan. The search results do not contain information about the contracting company for the infrastructure redesign of Sharjah's Industrial Area 6.
The SCCI shared visual presentations of how the redeveloped area will look upon completion. The projects are expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of Sharjah's industrial sector. The city continues to invest in its infrastructure to support its thriving economy and attract more businesses.
