Shift in perspectives: Is it time?

The NUFAM conference is set to take place in Hanover on the 7th and 8th of November, 2025. This two-day event will bring together building practitioners, both experienced and newcomers, for a series of panel discussions and specialist lectures focusing on energy-efficient and sustainable construction and renovation.

On the first day, the morning panel discussion will delve into the topic "Efficiency first failed?". This panel will explore the "Manifesto for a course change in climate policy for the building sector", a text penned by five scientists from architecture and engineering, advocating for a shift in focus from energy efficiency to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Representatives from environmental organizations, policymakers, and industry experts will participate in this discussion, though specific names have yet to be disclosed.

In the evening, the panel under the motto "Young meets old" will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and views between seasoned professionals and newcomers in the field.

Throughout the conference, attendees can look forward to approximately 30 specialist lectures on a variety of topics. These include renovation and heritage protection, multifunctional foundations, sustainable building materials, heat pumps, ground probes, and photovoltaics, among others.

A highlight of the conference will be the keynote lectures, which traditionally take a broader view. Professor Joerg Probst will look back at the past 25 years of energy efficiency, while Physicist Professor Anders Levermann will present his book "The Folding of the World" and explain how nature deals with limits and how humanity can use this strategy to tackle the climate crisis.

Alongside the conference, an exhibition will be held where participants can learn about new products and services for energy-efficient and sustainable construction and renovation. Companies whose portfolio matches the conference topics are invited to present themselves in the exhibition.

It is important to note that the NUFAM conference is not related to the ABZ Job Market or specific job vacancies. Additionally, unlike NUFAM, it is not a trade fair for decision-makers in transport, logistics, and forwarding.

With over 30 specialist lectures, two panel discussions, and an exhibition, the NUFAM conference promises to be an informative and engaging event for anyone interested in energy-efficient and sustainable construction and renovation.
