Shop Detective Ineffectively Apprehends 46-Year-Old Thief, Who Subsequently Flees and Is Ultimately Captured by Law Enforcement
A theft incident at Riebeckplatz in Halle (Saale) has been reported by the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg. On August 26, 2025, at 5:20 PM, a man stole food from a grocery store and left the premises without paying.
During the pursuit by the store detective, the suspect, a 46-year-old German national, was confronted near the tram tracks. A scuffle ensued, and during this, the suspect is said to have struck the security employee in the chest and pushed him away repeatedly.
A patrol from the Federal Police Station in Halle arrived at the scene and witnessed the struggle. The suspect was then handed over to a state police patrol for further processing. A search of the suspect's backpack revealed the stolen goods.
