Single-Source Ticket Sales for a Theatrical Production

In a significant shift for train travel in South Baden-Württemberg, Baden-Württemberg's state transport brand "bwegt" will be responsible for the distribution of train travel tickets from autumn 2025. This transition is evident with the opening of a bwegt passenger center at Ebingen station for ticket sales and consultation from November 2025.

Passengers can continue to use fare machines and digital distribution channels during the closure of the stationary advisory and sales points. The closure is expected during the transition period, with the exact duration yet to be determined. State Secretary Berthold Frieß has confirmed this, stating that there will be closures during the transition from the DB travel center to the bwegt passenger center.

DB Vertrieb will deploy specially trained staff at some locations to assist with ticket purchases at machines or in the DB Navigator during the closure. This measure aims to ensure a smooth transition for passengers.

The goal of bwegt is to double the number of passengers in public transport (PT) by 2030. To achieve this, bwegt aims to make PT easier for passengers through digitalization. Ticket guides are currently in operation in several cities, including Albstadt, Tübingen, and Reutlingen, and are expected to be available in Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, and Friedrichshafen from early September.

Transdev Vertrieb will operate advisory and sales points for the state in a uniform bwegt design. The sales agencies in Friedrichshafen-Hafen, Hechingen, Isny, Meckenbeuren, Mössingen, Rottenburg, and Stockach will continue to operate without interruption. However, Video Passenger Centers in Bad Saulgau, Bad Waldsee, Leutkirch, and Wangen will be dismantled in November, with the one in Nürtingen closing on September 19, 2025. The reopening dates are yet to be determined.

The Video Passenger Center in Riedlingen will be replaced by the end of 2026, and a new one will open in Laupheim city by the end of 2027.

bwegt is the overarching initiative of the state of Baden-Württemberg for sustainable and climate-friendly mobility, working with regional rail transport companies and other partners. This move towards a single entity for train ticket sales is part of this larger initiative to promote environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
