Situation at roadside: Query inquired.
In a surprising turn of events, a Bennett's kangaroo named "Mirko" has made a daring escape from a private enclosure on a farm in the picturesque town of Dullach. The news of the animal's escape has sparked concern, with Jutta Wagner, the animal ombudsman of BH Klagenfurt-Land, expressing her worry, saying, "No, not again."
The saga of Mirko began just before Christmas, when another kangaroo resembling Bennett's kangaroo escaped from a private enclosure in Keutschach. However, the details surrounding the release of this look-alike kangaroo remain unknown.
On Tuesday morning, an eyewitness reportedly captured a video of Mirko's escape, but unfortunately arrived too late to trace the animal's path. The search for Mirko is ongoing, but there is no indication that any kangaroos are missing from Tierpark Rosegg, according to a spokesperson for oe24.
Mirko, who currently resides in a petting zoo in the district of Wolfsberg, was originally received as a birthday gift. The owner of the kangaroo is yet to face trial for inadequate keeping of the animal, as a trial scheduled for mid-March was postponed.
The recaptured kangaroo from the Christmas incident was reported to Jutta Wagner and the Carinthian animal protection ombudswoman. The whereabouts of the Christmas kangaroo are currently unknown, adding another layer of mystery to this unusual tale.
As the search for Mirko continues, the community in Dullach and animal lovers across Carinthia are hopeful that the elusive kangaroo will be found soon and returned to its enclosure. Until then, the story of Mirko's daring escape serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the unique challenges that come with keeping exotic animals in private enclosures.
