Six businesses were shut down due to lack of permits

Several businesses in Bacolod City were closed last August 29, 2025, following a joint operation by the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) and City Legal Office. The affected businesses, which include a department store, a pastry shop, a salon, a dressed chicken plant, and boarding houses, were operating without a valid business permit.

Stela Rose Rayos, a representative from the BPLO, confirmed that these businesses were in violation of Section 65, Article 20 of City Ordinance 565, Series of 2011, or the Revised Revenue Code of Bacolod City. The businesses were issued a Notice of Violation and Closure previously, but failed to comply with the requirements.

According to records from the BPLO, more than 43 businesses in Bacolod City have been operating without a business permit. The closure of these businesses was not a result of any advertisements, and no specific individuals or entities have been identified as responsible for the violations.

Representatives of the affected businesses were advised not to resume operation without a valid permit, as there is a possibility of further penalties. Firms must voluntarily suspend operation and comply with the requirements within 15 days, pending the issuance of the Mayor's Permit.

Stela Rose Rayos stated that these enforcement actions will continue this week, and that the businesses affected were located in various barangays in Bacolod City. The businesses still under the threat of closure are urged to comply with the requirements to avoid further penalties.

The closure order was issued to ensure that all businesses in Bacolod City operate within the law and contribute to the city's revenue. The BPLO and City Legal Office will continue to enforce the city's business permit regulations to maintain a fair and orderly business environment in the city.
