Six individuals arrested by Polish law enforcement authorities

In the early hours of last night, around 1:00 AM, an alarm system in a business building located on Hänflingstraße, Essen, was activated. A witness alerted the police after observing a suspicious individual trying to break into the building.

The responding officers found the suspect, a 21-year-old man without a fixed residence in Germany, along with five other male individuals (aged 15, 16, 17, 19, and 19) in an Opel Zafira with a Polish license plate. The suspect fled the scene after being noticed, but was later arrested in Oberhausen on August 18 and is currently held in pretrial detention. The name of the suspect is not specified in the available information.

The occupants of the Opel Zafira were Romanian nationals without a fixed address in Germany. The burglary tools were found inside the vehicle, which was confirmed to have been legally purchased from a hardware store.

The incident took place in Essen, specifically in the area of MH-Heißen. The witness followed the suspect and identified his getaway vehicle. The Opel Zafira was located on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße (near Theodor-Storm-Straße) by the witness. The vehicle was seized by the police.

The police have initiated investigations for suspected aggravated theft and the incident is being handled by SoKo (Special Investigations Unit).
