SMU Football Grabs an Exciting Touchdown on Their First Attempt Against Baylor Through a Spectacular Tip Drill Play
The SMU Mustangs began their college football season on a high note, defeating Texas A&M-Commerce 42-13 in their season opener. The first play of the game set the tempo for the rest of the match, with SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings slightly underthrowing a pass intended for wide receiver Romello Brinson. However, Brinson showcased his skills, catching the ball and taking it all the way to the endzone for a touchdown.
In the game, Brinson was the leading pass-catcher for SMU, catching seven passes for 121 yards and one touchdown. Jennings also had a strong performance, completing 22 of his 30 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Jennings also contributed with one interception.
After the Brinson touchdown, SMU made a stop on the other end, maintaining their momentum throughout the game. The Mustangs made an extra point after Brinson's touchdown, increasing their lead to 7 points. In the second quarter, SMU drove down the field again, pushing the score to 10-0.
Heading into Week 2, the SMU Mustangs maintained their ranking in the AP Top 25 list, dropping one spot from #16 to #17. In the AP Top 25 list, SMU is currently ranked at #17.
