Social Democratic Party to Enact Measures for Child Protection and Wellbeing
In the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) faction has proposed an amendment to the Heilberufe-Kammergesetz, aiming to enhance information exchange to address child endangerment. The identity of the person who initiated the bill remains undisclosed.
The proposal has received support from various quarters, with Dorothea Kliche-Behnke (SPD) demanding improved information exchange in the first reading. Jochen Haußmann (FDP) has thanked the SPD faction for their impetus for child protection in the state.
Child protection is considered a task for society as a whole in Baden-Württemberg. The state has an established cooperation and early warning system with a holistic approach in child welfare. This system has been praised by both SPD and CDU members, with Manuel Hailfinger (CDU) referring to its effectiveness.
However, not all parties are in agreement. Some associations have expressed doubts about the added value of the SPD's amendment, questioning whether it is necessary given the existing system.
In response to these concerns, Manne Lucha (Greens), the Social Minister, has developed a master plan with 40 actors networked in a multidisciplinary manner for child protection. This plan aims to further strengthen the existing system and address any potential gaps.
Brigitte Johanna Henkel-Waidhofer, a state parliament member, has also voiced her support for the SPD's proposal. She believes that the amendment will contribute to the overall improvement of child protection measures in the state.
Jochen Haußmann (FDP) has further commended the SPD faction for their efforts in child protection, stating that they have set a significant impetus for the state. The fate of the amendment is yet to be decided, with further discussions and readings scheduled in the state parliament.
