In the picturesque town of Willich, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) has officially launched its campaign for the 2025 city council election, under the motto "Make More Possible." The campaign was initiated a few weeks ago at the bustling Willich market, following a series of significant events.
The tragic loss of candidate Klaus Olaf Platz, the exit of a party member, and a request for relief due to personal reasons necessitated a meeting to confirm the constituency candidates and the new reserve list for the city council. Despite these sad circumstances, Lukas Maaßen, chairman of the SPD Willich, expressed that the election campaign started with clarity and unity.
The election program presented by Maaßen and former mayor Lukas Siebenkotten focuses on clear goals for more affordable housing, modern mobility, strong neighborhoods, and a social urban development. One of the most emotional projects for many Willich residents is the "Willich-Bahn 2.0" - the reactivation of a modern tram connection between Krefeld and Willich to Schiefbahn. The SPD aims to make a concrete contribution to barrier-free mobility for all with this project.
The election of candidates for constituencies and the reserve list in the SPD Willich took place unanimously and without abstentions in a concentrated member meeting. The top ten places on the reserve list for the city council are: Lukas Maaßen, Nadja Leenen, Lukas Siebenkotten, Andreas Winkler, Johannes Hafermann, Christian Gosselk, Hendrik Pempelfort, Dr. Ralf Oerschkes, Dietmar Winkels, and Bernd-Dieter Röhrscheid.
It is crucial for the SPD to fill all constituencies and list places, as if even a single constituency had remained vacant, the party would not have been able to be elected there. The reserve list is essential for who will represent the SPD's interests among the citizens in the city council in the future.
The "Team Lukas & Lukas" - Maaßen and Siebenkotten - and a united team are now leading the SPD Willich into the 2025 local election campaign. With their clear goals and strong commitment, they aim to make more possible for the town of Willich.
