Sonoco GreenCan, a recyclable container product, is the focus of Vetain's investment strategy, with an emphasis on cardboard flooring implementation.

Vetain, a German company specializing in vegan protein powders and dietary supplements, has made a significant stride towards sustainability with the introduction of its new GreenCan packaging. Founded in 2021 by athletes Luca Gruber and Philipp Riedl, Vetain has quickly built a customer base of over 200,000 consumers across Europe and boasts an annual turnover of around 20 million euros.

The GreenCan packaging, a partnership between Vetain and Sonoco Consumer Europe, is made up of at least 96% paper and includes a cardboard base. This eco-friendly solution, praised by customers, is fully recyclable in the paper cycle.

Philipp Riedl, CEO of Vetain, stated that the new GreenCan packaging supports their commitment to sustainability. Oliver Kock, Senior Sales Manager at Sonoco Consumer Europe, highlighted that Vetain is an example of young entrepreneurs who want to set sustainable accents with their brand and packaging.

In 2023, Vetain initially switched to a full paper solution for its packaging, replacing the previously used packaging with a metal base. The collaboration between Vetain and Sonoco began in the same year.

Sustainability, quality, and transparency are core values for Vetain. The company employs a team of 23 people and their product range includes protein powders, bars, nut butters, and toppings. The GreenCan packaging, a step further in Vetain's commitment to sustainability, is a testament to their dedication to reducing their environmental impact.

Oliver Kock, in his comments on Sonoco's collaboration with Vetain, supported their transition to fully recyclable, sustainable paper-based packaging solutions such as the GreenCan with a paper-end. The GreenCan variant, introduced two years later, includes a cardboard base, making it even more sustainable.

Customers of Vetain are not the only ones praising the eco-friendly solution. The GreenCan packaging has garnered attention for its commitment to sustainability, setting a positive example for other companies in the industry. With the GreenCan packaging, Vetain continues to demonstrate its dedication to creating a more sustainable future.
