Southwest Side GameStop under investigation for apparent smash-and-grab robbery by Chicago law enforcement authorities
GameStop Store in Chicago's Scottsdale Neighbourhood Suffers Two Burglaries
Two burglaries have occurred at a GameStop store located at 79th and Cicero Avenue in Chicago's Scottsdale neighbourhood. The latest incident took place early on Wednesday morning, with no arrests made as of yet.
According to reports, the unidentified suspects involved in the latest smash-and-grab burglary attempt drove through the front windows of the business, causing extensive damage. Upon arrival, the Chicago police found that the store's glass door had been shattered, and merchandise was found scattered across the floor. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The shopping center where the GameStop store is located has not commented on the incident.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the GameStop store has been targeted. Earlier this year, on April 5, a similar burglary occurred at the same location. The method used in this earlier burglary was identical, with the thieves driving through the front windows and fleeing with stolen merchandise in a dark-colored sedan.
Despite the incident, the GameStop store has not issued a statement regarding either burglary. Similarly, no further details about the stolen merchandise or any suspects have been provided. The shopping center where the GameStop store is located has also remained silent on the matter.
The Chicago police are still investigating both burglaries. No arrests have been made in connection with the earlier burglary, which occurred in April.
As the investigation continues, the community hopes for swift justice and the safety of local businesses. The GameStop store, a popular destination for gamers and collectors, will undoubtedly work to repair the damages and secure their premises to prevent future incidents.
