Belgium Secures Impressive Victory in World Cup Qualifier

In a dominating performance, Belgium scored five goals in the second half to secure a comprehensive 6-0 victory against Liechtenstein in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday. The match, which took place in Group J, saw the Red Devils overturn a 1-0 deficit at half-time.

Meanwhile, in Group J, Belgium finds itself in third place, level with the Netherlands and Poland. The Netherlands and Poland played out a 1-1 draw in their encounter, with Denzel Dumfries scoring for the Dutch, while Matthew Cash replied for Poland.

Elsewhere, Spain, the reigning European champions, continued their impressive form with a 3-0 win against Bulgaria in Group E. Mikel Oyarzabal, Marc Cucurella, and Mikel Merino were the goalscorers for Spain. Turkey also registered a victory in Group E, defeating Georgia 3-2, with Kerem Aktürkoglu scoring two goals and Mert Müldür adding one.

In another notable result, Northern Ireland secured their second victory in the World Cup qualifiers, defeating Luxembourg 3-1. Jamie Reid, Shea Charles, and Justin Devenny were the goalscorers for Northern Ireland. This win sets up an intriguing encounter with Germany, which will take place in Cologne on Sunday.

Spain's victory in Group E is particularly significant as only the group winner will directly qualify for the 2023 World Cup. After the first matchday, no team had yet qualified for the playoffs in Group E. The initial games included a 0-0 draw between Albania and the Faroe Islands, and the group consists of Spain, Turkey, Georgia, and Bulgaria.

Robert Lewandowski returned to the Poland national team but failed to impress and was substituted after 63 minutes. Despite this, Poland remains level on points with the Netherlands at the top of Group G.

Liechtenstein, unfortunately, has yet to win a World Cup qualifier in this campaign. They will be hoping to turn their fortunes around in their next match.
