The Berlin Foxes are gearing up for an exciting Bundesliga season, with young goalkeeper Lasse Ludwig set to take centre stage. Ludwig, who signed a contract with the Füchse Berlin handball team until the year 2027, could be the surprise package this season, according to sports director Stefan Kretzschmar.

In the Bundesliga opener against Bergischer HC, Ludwig showcased his talent, making an impressive 16 saves to steer his team to a 39:27 victory. His performance was reminiscent of Tim Freihofer's from the previous year, as suggested by coach Jaron Siewert.

Kretzschmar believes Ludwig's path is the typical path for a young goalkeeper to make a name for himself. He praised the goalkeeper, stating that it's tough to surpass Dejan Milosavljev, but Ludwig is embracing the challenge.

Ludwig's next opportunity to prove himself is against Frisch Auf Göppingen in the Bundesliga campaign on Wednesday. The location of the game is yet to be specified.

While Ludwig is typically the backup to Milosavljev, the latter's contract with the Foxes expires at the end of the current season, and there's no information about any potential renewal. This could pave the way for Ludwig to take the starting position.

Ludwig's progress has been pleasing for Kretzschmar, who is also happy with the development of the homegrown talent. The goalkeeper himself remains focused, stating that he tries to come in, do his job, and stay focused.

Ludwig's impressive performance was also evident in the Supercup, where he saved the decisive penalty against THW Kiel a week earlier. This has increased anticipation for his upcoming games, including the match against Frisch Auf Göppingen.

The Bundesliga game between the Foxes and Frisch Auf Göppingen is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Fans are eager to see if Ludwig can continue his impressive form and cement his place as the Foxes' first-choice goalkeeper.
