Spurs Rejection Affects Mathys Tel: "Certainly, It Hurts" - Mathys Tel Open About His Feelings
Tel Expresses Disappointment Over Champions League Exclusion, Vows to Prove Himself
Mathys Tel, the young forward who joined Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich in June, has expressed his disappointment over being left out of the club's Champions League squad for the 2025/26 season.
Despite his omission from the Champions League roster, Tel remains determined to prove himself and fight for his place in Thomas Frank's squad. In an interview with reporters, Tel stated that he was informed about his exclusion by Thomas Frank.
Tel spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Tottenham, where he made 20 appearances, scoring three goals and getting one assist. His performance during his loan spell helped Tottenham on their way to Europa League glory, though he did not feature in the final.
The signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig has led to speculation about Tel's future at Tottenham. However, Tel is optimistic about his future with the club and expects to stay with Tottenham. He believes that his time at Tottenham so far has helped him grow in maturity and experience, and he sees it as an encouraging setup.
Tel is not the only player who has been left out of Tottenham's Champions League squad. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski were also left out due to injuries, while Yves Bissouma was left out due to not being in Thomas Frank's plans. Radu Dragusin was also omitted from the squad.
Spurs begin their Champions League campaign against Villarreal at home on September 16. Tel will be hoping to prove himself and earn a place in the squad for the upcoming season. Despite his disappointment, Tel remains hopeful about his future with Tottenham and is determined to fight for his place in the team.
