In a tragic turn of events, a double stabbing occurred at an IHOP restaurant in Brooklyn on September 5. The incident took place at the IHOP branch located at 11000 Flatlands Ave., East New York, just after 10:30 p.m.

Hector Reinoso-Perez, a 67-year-old man from Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn, was one of the victims. He suffered a knife wound to his stomach and was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital. Despite the efforts of the emergency medical services, Reinoso-Perez later died of his injuries.

The other victim, a 41-year-old man, was stabbed in the left arm. He was not hospitalized for his injuries.

The investigation into this incident is being conducted by the 75th Precinct, with NYPD Crime Scene Unit members still scouring the area outside the IHOP for evidence on Saturday morning.

Police are questioning a person of interest in connection with the violence. However, the person being questioned in connection with the incident at the IHOP branch on Flatlands Ave. on September 5 has not been publicly identified.

Charges against the person of interest are pending the results of the ongoing investigation.

On Friday morning, another emergency incident involving an IHOP restaurant in Georgetown resulted in nine people being injured when a ceiling collapsed.

This news was updated on Sept. 6 at 7:45 p.m. to reflect new information from the NYPD. One of the victims' family members arrived at the scene looking for answers.

The investigation into the Georgetown incident is ongoing.

A blood-covered apron was found on the ground with an evidence marker near the entrance of the IHOP restaurant in East New York.
