Stalking incident at US Open: Karolina Muchova discloses she was pursued by an ex-boyfriend while in the crowd during the tournament
In the bustling city of New York, a shocking incident unfolded during the US Open tennis tournament. Karolina Muchova, the Czech tennis player, found herself in an unsettling situation when her ex-boyfriend appeared opposite her bench during a match.
Muchova was visibly emotional during the encounter, and there was a brief delay in the game as she had to address the situation. Despite the distraction, she managed to maintain her composure and continue with the match. However, she later had to apologise to her opponent for the delay.
It is important to note that this incident is not related to the incident involving Emma Raducanu being stalked by a crazed fan in Dubai earlier this year. Muchova, who was on the other side of the net during Raducanu's ordeal, confirmed that the incident was not tennis-related.
The ex-boyfriend, who had also caused a stir by being removed from the arena in Dubai and handed a restraining order, was also removed from the list of applicants for Wimbledon tickets over the summer.
Despite the harrowing experience, Muchova is determined to move forward. She is set to face Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round of the US Open on Sunday. Muchova did not request the ex-boyfriend to be blacklisted by the WTA or the USTA, preferring to handle the matter privately.
This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges athletes can face both on and off the court. Despite the distractions, Muchova remains focused and determined, ready to take on her next challenge at the US Open.
