Statementfrom Ahlhorn Highway Police Department
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, a car fire broke out at the Langwege rest area on the A1 highway, causing a minor disruption in the Delmenhorst region, Land of Wesermarsch.
The incident occurred at around 1 p.m., with the Rest Area Langwege-Ost, located in the Municipality of Dinklage, being the unfortunate site of the blaze. The vehicle involved was a BMW.
The fire, driven by a technical fault, quickly caught the attention of passing motorists. However, there was no danger to other road users as the driver, a 32-year-old from Osnabrück, was able to leave the vehicle safely before it was engulfed in flames.

The car had to be loaded onto a truck and towed away, and the total damage is estimated at around 15,000 euros.
The A1 highway was affected by the incident, but traffic has since returned to normal. For further inquiries, the Police Inspectorate Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch Press Office can be contacted at the provided contact details.
