Grand Canyon University Hosts Successful Welcome Week

Grand Canyon University (GCU) welcomed a large number of students and parents during its annual Welcome Week, which took place recently. The week was filled with a variety of events and activities designed to help new students settle into campus life and familiarise themselves with the university.

During Welcome Week, GCU Dining served a total of 259 pounds of brisket and 342 pounds of ribs (approximately 200 racks), as well as 240 pounds of barbecue chicken. In addition, 40 dozens of doughnuts were provided for Thursday's Lope Family Sendoff.

ASGCU recorded a total of 343 transfer and out-of-state student social check-ins, along with 170 open house check-ins. The Sweet Life of ASGCU was a popular destination, with 633 check-ins during the week.

The events attracted a significant number of attendees, with 8,055 unique guests in total. The Fall Club and Community Fair was particularly well-attended, with 3,972 check-ins, although the specific group that recorded these check-ins is not identified in the search results.

Other popular events included the Silent Disco, which had 3,040 check-ins, the Taste of the World event with 200 check-ins, and the Canyon Cool Down event with 2,684 check-ins.

A total of 11,875 curbside appointments were made during the week, and 120,000 water bottles were distributed. 23 new members joined the IDEA Club during Welcome Week, while 500+ student volunteers participated in the activities.

Welcome Week also saw the use of 135 walkie talkies and the placement of 98 A-Frame signs around campus. A total of 27 golf carts were rented for the activities, and 88 open house check-ins were recorded during the Multicultural Life events.

Finally, 298 people registered for Family Weekend, which will take place on October 10-11. The average number of people served per hour during Welcome Week was 84.5.

In summary, Grand Canyon University's Welcome Week was a huge success, attracting tens of thousands of students and parents, and providing a wide range of events and activities to help new students settle into campus life.
