In a recent meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh police lines, central and metropolitan leaders of 32 political parties and alliances gathered to discuss the upcoming polls and related matters. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sheikh Mohammad Sazzat Ali, was present at the event.
Among the topics discussed, concerns were raised over urban issues such as traffic congestion, drug abuse, and the rise of teen-gangs. Political leaders urged the law enforcement agency to remain vigilant against any subversive activities ahead of the election.
Political leaders pledged cooperation with the police in addressing these challenges. Representatives of the political parties assured the DMP of their full cooperation in ensuring a peaceful and orderly environment in the city. In response, Commissioner Ali urged political parties to avoid holding rallies on busy roads to prevent any suffering to pregnant women, critically ill patients, and students heading to exam centres.
The meeting also addressed the proposed venues for political rallies, with 91 venues across Dhaka being proposed. Specifically, 15 venues are proposed in Motijheel division, 12 in Tejgaon, 17 in Lalbagh, 14 in Wari, 8 in Gulshan, 11 in Mirpur, 10 in Uttara, and four in Ramna division.
