The annual meeting of the Wahlwies department, part of the Stockach fire department, took place on 11.03.2025. Steffen Kuppel, the department commander, presided over the gathering, which saw the attendance of senior members, the youth fire brigade, local representatives, and cattle breeders.

During the meeting, Fabienne Martin, the treasurer, presented a report showcasing solid and impeccable cash management. The auditors, Peter Biedermann and Michael Ruß, confirmed the report, leading to the treasurer's discharge being granted unanimously.

Commander Steffen Kuppel highlighted the department's achievements over the past year. These included participation in the district fire department day in Bohlingen, an excursion in the region, and a joint annual training exercise and camaraderie festival with the Espasingen department. Three firefighters from Wahlwies even won the district of Konstanz fire brigade medal at performance competitions in Bohlingen.

However, the meeting also addressed challenges. Commander Kuppel emphasised the space problems in the fire station, a concern echoed by Mayor Susen Katter who promised to address this urgent issue. The department, known for its commitment to training and further education, reported that 14 fire department members attended various courses throughout the year.

The Wahlwies department welcomed eight new firefighters, including five men and one woman, during the annual meeting. The operational department currently has 50 members, with 10 women making up half of the team.

Uwe Hartmann, another commander, emphasised the long-standing excellent and exemplary cooperation with the Espasingen department. Hartmann also discussed current developments in the Stockach fire department, including the upcoming switch to digital radio.

Alexander Buhl, a local representative, and Udo Pelkner, who thanked the cattle breeders for their partnership, also addressed the meeting. Commander Kuppel closed the meeting, marking another successful year for the Wahlwies department.

In the past year, the Wahlwies department responded to 20 incidents, with half being fire incidents. Despite the challenges, the department continues to strive for excellence and cooperation, looking forward to another year of service to their community.
