Stolen Excavator Causes Road Accidents; Smoke in an Apartment After Break-In; Pub Burglarized, Fire in Drain Pipe
In a series of unfortunate events, several incidents and damages have been reported across various roadways in the region over the past day.
On the B465 between Wittlingen and Seeburg, a traffic accident involving a 62-year-old man on a BMW motorcycle occurred on Wednesday morning. The details of the accident and the man's condition are currently unknown.
On the K6745, two motorcyclists were injured in a traffic accident on a winding section of the road. The accident took place on the exit of a left-hand bend, where a 61-year-old woman lost control of her Yamaha and crashed. Her 70-year-old companion also crashed while braking. Both women were taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity. Their motorcycles were towed away.
A separate incident occurred on the B27b, where a public bus and a car collided, resulting in 14 injuries. The bus driver, a 60-year-old man, turned left onto the B27b and ended up on the opposite lane, causing the collision. After hitting a roadside post, the man ended up in an adjacent ditch. The extent of his injuries is still unclear, and he was taken to the hospital by the emergency services. Thirteen passengers in the bus, aged between 21 and 64, sustained minor injuries. Three passengers were taken to nearby hospitals by emergency services.
In a different incident, a break-in occurred at a guesthouse on the Herrenberger StraΓe between Tuesday and Wednesday. However, no items were stolen.
On the K6767, two attachment devices for an excavator arm were stolen from a construction site between early August and August 15. The heavy excavator bucket and the attachment vibrator, worth several tens of thousands of euros, were likely transported away using a vehicle that may have had a crane.
At an Onstmettingen company, a small fire in the exhaust duct of a machine caused an estimated damage of around 100 euros.
Witnesses who have noticed suspicious vehicles or have any other suspicious observations related to the stolen attachment devices are asked to call the Alb police station. The estimated material damage from the break-in at the guesthouse is around β¬5,000, while the damage to the BMW motorcycle is estimated to be around β¬40,000.
In all incidents, emergency services, the fire department, and the road maintenance service were deployed to the scenes.
