Severe Storm Hits Bocholt: Fire Department and Emergency Services Respond

A severe storm hit the city of Bocholt on Wednesday evening, causing significant damage throughout the city area. The Bocholt Fire Department, along with other emergency services, sprang into action to manage the situation.

Approximately 125 emergency services were deployed, including the Bocholt Fire Department, the municipal authority, the waste management and service company (ESB), and units of the Technical Relief Agency (THW). The storm resulted in numerous emergency calls, which were handled efficiently by the Bocholt Fire Department.

The city's parks, particularly the Langenberg Park, suffered significant damage due to fallen branches. As a precaution, the municipal authority temporarily closed the park and appealed to the public to avoid parks and other tree-rich areas during and immediately after the storm.

The storm left many flooded streets, fallen branches, and uprooted trees in its wake, posing a danger and causing damage. The city center and parts of Stenern were particularly affected. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the storm.

During the storm, the ESB staff were involved in removing branches and assessing the safety of affected trees. In Dinxperloer Street, some manhole covers were pushed out of their anchorage by overflowing channels.

The head of the Bocholt Fire Department involved in the event is Dirk Arping. The city center and affected areas are being assessed and cleaned up, and the Bocholt Fire Department can be contacted for updates regarding the situation.

The Bocholt Fire Department encourages everyone to stay safe and follow any instructions from the authorities during severe weather events. For the latest updates, visit the Bocholt Fire Department's website at www.bocholt.de/feuerwehr.
