Jacksonville Jaguars' 2025 Season Preview

The Jacksonville Jaguars are gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, with several new additions and a refreshed roster. Here's a closer look at the key developments for the Jags.

New Coaching Staff

Liam Coen, the former play-caller for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has taken over as head coach of the Jaguars. Coen, who is reportedly the highest-paid coordinator in the NFL, will be joined by the new offensive coordinator and play-calling coach, Grant Udinski, who was hired in 2025. The defensive coordinator role is filled by Anthony Campanile, a 42-year-old coach.

Draft Picks and Roster Changes

The Jaguars made a significant move in the draft, trading up three spots to select wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter at the No. 2 overall pick. Hunter is expected to focus on the receiver position initially but may also mix in at cornerback. Jourdan Lewis joins the Jaguars secondary as a more permanent fixture.

The Jaguars have also made changes to their offensive line, with the additions of Brandon Scherff, Mitch Morse, Blake Hance, Robert Hainsey, Patrick Mekari, Chuma Edoga, and Fred Johnson.

Key Players

Former first-round picks Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker are expected to lead the defensive front for the Jaguars. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, with two young star-level receivers in Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr., will be a crucial factor in the team's success. Thomas Jr., who had 1,200+ receiving yards and 10+ receiving TDs in his rookie season, will provide a strong target for Lawrence.

Betting Odds

According to BetMGM, Lawrence's MVP odds stand at 5000, while his Offensive Player of the Year odds are 15000. The Over/Under for Lawrence's pass yards is 3750.5 at FanDuel, and the Over/Under for his pass touchdowns is 22.5. The Jaguars' win total is set at 7.5 wins with +115 odds at BetMGM.

Tough Start and Easier Finish

The Jaguars have a challenging 11-game stretch to open the year that includes five games against playoff teams from 2024. However, the team's final stretch run of the year sees them play just one playoff-caliber opponent in Denver from Week 12 onward.

This promising roster, coupled with a new coaching staff, sets the stage for an intriguing 2025 season for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
