Stuttgart authorities confirm robbery of elderly male aged 72

On Friday, February 21, 2025, a dramatic incident unfolded at the underground city railway station at Foerichstrasse in Stuttgart. A 35-year-old man, identified as a Serbian national, allegedly attempted to rob a 72-year-old woman.

The incident began around 18:45 when the suspect is said to have tried to snatch the woman's handbag. The woman resisted, and according to reports, the suspect struck her multiple times. A 66-year-old passerby, alerted by the woman's cries for help, chased the fleeing suspect.

The police were promptly notified and responded to the scene, where they arrested the suspect shortly thereafter. Both the woman and the passerby sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.

The Stuttgart Public Prosecutor's Office issued a warrant for the suspect and remanded him into custody on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
