Submit applications for ballot papers for the upcoming local elections forthwith
Municipal elections are approaching in Arnsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, scheduled for September 14th. Here's a guide to help eligible voters understand their voting options and key dates.
Eligible voters will receive their election notifications from the end of this week. The notifications contain important information, including a QR code that leads directly to the online request process for mail-in voting.
For those who prefer to vote in person, on-site voting offices are available at the Old Town Hall Arnsberg and the City Office Neheim. At the Old Town Hall, voting is possible without an appointment until 3 pm on September 12th. The City Office Neheim offers the same service, with the same no-appointment policy, until the same time on the same day.
Voters who are unable to vote in their designated polling station have the option to request the election transfer (Wahlumschreibung) by mail or in person. The application printed on the back of the election notification can be used for a written request.
Mail-in voting materials can be requested from the City of Arnsberg's election office online, by email, or in writing. Voters can also pick up these materials in person. It's important to note that voting envelopes sent via post should be sent by latest Thursday, September 11, within the Arnsberg city area to ensure they arrive at the voting office on time. For those outside of Arnsberg, post delivery times can take up to three days, so voting envelopes from outside should be sent by Tuesday, September 9.
Red voting envelopes can be deposited without postage in yellow mailboxes of the German Post or municipal mailboxes. These mailboxes are conveniently located at the City Office Neheim, Administrative Building Goethestraße 16-18, City Library Hüsten, Old Town Hall Arnsberg, and Grundschule Oeventrop.
It's worth mentioning that the elections will be for the Mayor/Mayoress, City Council, District Administrator/Administratrix, and County Council. In case of a runoff election for the Mayor/Mayoress and District Administrator/Administratrix, a second election is scheduled for September 28th.
Remember, voting is a crucial part of our democratic process. Whether you choose to vote in person or by mail, ensure you exercise your right to vote before the deadline for submitting red voting envelopes, which is Sunday, September 14, at 4 pm.
