The coming week promises a mix of weather conditions across our region, with a potential for severe weather on Saturday.

On Wednesday, the region can expect mostly sunny skies as the high temperature reaches 76 degrees Fahrenheit, with the low settling at 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Thursday will see a mix of sun and clouds, with a high of 81 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Friday will bring a change in weather as the region experiences a dry day with partly to mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will climb to 87 degrees Fahrenheit, and the low will be 66 degrees Fahrenheit. By the afternoon, conditions will clear up, making way for warmer-than-average highs in the upper 80s.

On Saturday, the region will be warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to near 90. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to cross the region in the afternoon and evening, and these storms could produce damaging wind gusts. The I-95 corridor and points south and east are most likely to be impacted by these storms, which could last into Sunday morning before gradually clearing into Sunday afternoon.

Sunday will be much cooler and drier, with highs in the low 70s. The day will be partly sunny, offering a welcome relief from the heat and humidity of the previous day.

Monday will bring sunny skies and a high of 75 degrees Fahrenheit, with the low settling at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuesday will see similar weather conditions, with a high of 77 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

At the bus stop on Friday, temperatures will be in the 60s with partly cloudy conditions, making for a comfortable start to the day.

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the region under a Level 1 or "marginal" risk of severe weather for Saturday. The western South Plains area extending into West Texas and eastern New Mexico is the region potentially affected by severe weather events on Saturday, where convection and mesoscale convective systems may develop with the possibility of severe weather late in the day into the overnight hours.

Stay tuned for further updates on the weather conditions in our region.
