Support unfunded education for long-term unemployed individuals through your charitable contributions: the ongoing project.
In Bremen, the "Donate Your Deposit" employment project is now live, providing new job opportunities for individuals who have faced difficulties in the labor market. This innovative initiative, which recycles deposit bottles and cans, is a collaboration between the Green Dot and Diakonie ProJob.
The Green Dot, an organisation responsible for the collection, deposit redemption, and recycling of deposit bottles and cans, is spearheading this project. Passengers at Bremen City Airport can now deposit their deposit bottles before security checks, contributing to the employment of long-term unemployed individuals in the city.
Two individuals in Bremen are currently employed as a result of this project. The jobs of these employees are co-financed by the revenue from deposit bottles, with the funds going directly to Diakonie ProJob to finance the new positions.
Bremen is the fourth location where the Green Dot is implementing the employment project with a local partner, following in the footsteps of Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Cologne/Bonn. The project in Hamburg was realised half a year ago in collaboration with Hamburg Airport and Hinz&Kunzt.
Interestingly, unlike Hamburg, Bremen Airport is much smaller, with about 2.5 million passengers. However, the airport operators showing interest in cooperating for the "Donate Your Deposit" project are Flughafen Hamburg GmbH and Flughafen Dรผsseldorf GmbH, indicating a potential expansion of the project in the future.
Moreover, ongoing talks with other airport operators interested in cooperation for the project are underway, suggesting that the "Donate Your Deposit" employment project may soon be available in more locations.
The Green Dot also has plans to implement the project at Dresden Airport in June, further expanding the reach of the initiative. As the project grows, so does its potential to provide meaningful employment opportunities for those who need it most.
It's important to note that the amount of deposits in Bremen would not be sufficient to create full-time positions without state aid for the current employees. However, the project is a significant step towards creating a more sustainable and inclusive economy.
Passengers are encouraged to participate in this initiative by depositing their deposit bottles at Bremen City Airport. Not only does this support the employment of long-term unemployed individuals, but it also benefits the environment by promoting recycling and reducing waste.
