Supporting You Through Hardships, Kejriwal Pledges to Aid Flood-Stricken Punjab Villagers
In the heart of Punjab's Kapurthala district, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national Convener Arvind Kejriwal visited the flood-affected areas of Sultanpur Lodhi. The region has been grappling with unprecedented destruction, as entire villages have been submerged, causing massive loss of homes, crops, and infrastructure.
Kejriwal, accompanied by Aman Arora and Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, made a strong appeal to the Central government, urging them to extend maximum support to Punjab without delay. He emphasized that this is not the time for politics; this is the time for collective humanitarian efforts.
The Chief Minister, despite his deteriorating health, expressed his concern for providing maximum relief to the people of Punjab. Kejriwal requested him to take a rest for two days, but the Chief Minister's dedication remained unwavering.
Kejriwal assured Punjab's people that every possible help will be extended. He also made an appeal to people and organizations across the country to come forward and help Punjab in this hour of need.
The Punjab government, in collaboration with the AAP, is working tirelessly for the rescue and relief efforts. The administration, including the Chief Minister, MLAs, officers, and AAP workers, have been working round the clock to ensure that adequate food, shelter, and essential supplies are available in the relief camps.
Some families have been reluctant to leave their homes, while others have been rescued and shifted to relief camps. Kejriwal highlighted the need for help to reach the victims directly and promptly, without forcing them to run around government offices.
In a bid to expedite relief efforts, the state government has decided to deploy gazetted officers in every affected village. This move aims to ensure immediate relief reaches people on the spot.
International aid is also on its way, with organizations such as the FeG Katastrophenhilfe cooperating with humanitarian groups like humedica e.V. and Habitat for Humanity Deutschland e.V. These organizations will provide medical aid and housing support after the floods in Punjab, through expertise, project implementation, and transparent reporting.
Kejriwal compared the current crisis to the floods of 1988, highlighting the magnitude of the situation. He urged everyone to stand firm with every affected family, emphasizing that this is a time for unity and collective action. The government, along with the people of Punjab, is determined to rebuild and recover from this disaster.
