Suspect apprehended on active warrant for firearm-related charges
In Gesundbrunnen last night, a disturbing incident unfolded as a conflict escalated between a 28-year-old man and three acquaintances in Drontheimer Street. The incident, which occurred around 23:00, took a violent turn when one of the individuals pulled out what appeared to be a loaded gun and shot the 28-year-old in the foot.
A passerby, noticing the injured man on the ground, alerted the police, leading to the prompt arrival of emergency services. The injured man was bleeding from his foot and was transported to a hospital for inpatient treatment of his gunshot wound.
The Public Prosecutor's Office Berlin issued an arrest warrant and a search warrant against a 32-year-old man in Wedding. The arrest took place on Monday evening by police forces from Police Directorate 1 (North) and the special forces, around 22:30, in Reinickendorf Street.
During the arrest, the suspect sustained injuries that were treated on-site. The man is now in custody and is suspected of injuring another man with a firearm, leading to an investigation for dangerous bodily harm.
The seized evidence is being evaluated, and a specialized commission of Police Directorate 1 (North) has taken over the further investigation, including the search for the perpetrator. The arrest warrant was upheld by an investigating judge today.
