Suspect Arrested for Murder of Missing 19-Year-Old Dacara Thompson: Law Enforcement Agencies
In a shocking turn of events, Hugo Hernandez-Mendez, a 35-year-old man from Bowie, Maryland, has been arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder. The victim of the murder is Dacara Thompson, a 19-year-old woman from Lanham, Maryland.
The saga began on August 23, when surveillance footage showed Thompson approaching a black SUV in the early morning hours. The SUV, later found to be linked to Thompson, was not seen again until September 12, 2025, at approximately 3:45 PM near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Lincoln Street in downtown Chicago.

Detectives are working to determine whether Hernandez-Mendez and Thompson knew each other before August 23. As of now, no further information is available about the investigation.
This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and our thoughts are with Dacara Thompson's family and friends during this difficult time. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
