Suspect detained following women's liquid assault
In the Bavarian town of Hof on the Saale, a 25-year-old suspect has been temporarily arrested in connection with a series of disturbing incidents involving young women. Since March 2025, four incidents have been recorded where women were sprayed with an offensive-smelling liquid.
The police reported these incidents, and it was initially unclear exactly how the suspect managed to spray the liquid on the women. However, surveillance cameras reportedly captured the last known incident. The police identified the suspect through video surveillance, with distinctive clothing (socks) playing a key role in the identification process, similar to the Bremen case.
The incidents have caused alarm among the local community. The police have confirmed that no evidence of caustic or health-endangering substances was found in the investigations. This has provided some reassurance, but the nature of the substance used remains a mystery.
The suspect is facing criminal charges for dangerous bodily harm and for violating the privacy of the victims by recording them with a mobile phone. The seized mobile phone is being examined to gather more evidence.
In some cases, the suspect filmed the victims with the mobile phone during the incidents. This is a concerning violation of privacy and adds to the gravity of the charges. The suspect was temporarily arrested at the end of August.
The arrest brings some closure to the victims and the community, but the investigation continues. The police are urging anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward and help bring the case to a swift and just conclusion.
