Suspect involved in burglaries captured temporarily by law enforcement
In the early hours of Sunday morning, August 10, two suspected burglars were temporarily arrested by the Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police in Bergheim, Quadrath-Ichendorf. The burglary took place at a supermarket on Fischbachstraße.
According to the initial findings, the burglary occurred around 0.40 a.m. The burglars forced open the emergency exit door of the supermarket and repeatedly entered the store, loading several bags with stolen goods into their getaway car, a Citroën Saxo. The police noticed the fleeing vehicle and pursued it, successfully stopping the car shortly afterwards with several patrol vehicles.
The suspects surrendered without resistance, and the officers ordered a blood test for the driver. The preliminary test indicated cannabis consumption by the driver. The further investigation of the suspicion case involving the arrested individuals was taken over by the traffic criminal investigation department in Siegen.
The stolen goods have been secured by the police and are currently under investigation. The investigation is still ongoing, with further details to be released by the police headquarters. The police also secured the vehicle and the suspected stolen goods.

The further investigation of a separate case, involving the arrest of two men with 1.5 kg of heroin, a firearm, and a five-digit sum of money on August 15, 2025, in Krefeld, is being handled by the Kriminalkommissariat 21 and the Verkehrskommissariat.
