Suspects Arrested as Victims Plead for Assistance

In an unexpected incident, a 37-year-old male suspect approached a 20-year-old German woman and a 23-year-old Syrian man in Dessau's main station green area on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 6:45 PM. The suspect threatened the two individuals with a handsaw, but the man lightly hit the 20-year-old German woman on the thigh, causing no injury.

The officers immediately took control of the situation and repelled further attack attempts. The suspect dropped the saw upon being threatened with pepper spray, and the handsaw was subsequently secured. The suspect was then restrained and taken to the nearby federal police station.

A breathalyzer test showed a reading of 1.28 per mil for the suspect. However, a drug test conducted on the suspect came back negative. An investigation was opened for dangerous bodily harm and threats against the German national. The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed at this time.
