Suspenseful Incident: Family in Gujarat Evades Disaster as Bridge Purposely Shaken
In the heart of Gujarat, a tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening. The British-era bridge in Morbi, which had reopened for the public just four days prior, suddenly collapsed around 6.30 pm.
The bridge's overcrowding, with a significant crowd present at the time of the collapse, is believed to be the primary cause of the disaster. The incident resulted in at least 90 casualties, with many more injured.
The bridge caved in suddenly, causing many individuals to fall. Among the victims, it appears that the majority were children who were there to celebrate Diwali. The tragedy has left families in mourning, with several individuals reporting their family members or parents missing after the incident.
A 10-year-old survivor shared a harrowing account, stating that his father and mother are still missing after holding onto a hanging rope and surviving the collapse.
Rescue efforts were hampered due to reduced light at night. Despite this, local residents and residents rushed to the spot and pulled out many individuals alive. One local resident, whose name is not known, played a crucial role in this rescue mission.
The maintenance and renovation of the bridge were the responsibility of the local Morbi municipality before it was reopened to the public. Reports suggest that Vijay Goswami and his relative returned from the bridge midway due to some individuals shaking it. Goswami notified the bridge team about the unsafe behavior, but they were unresponsive.
Goswami and his family were in Morbi to celebrate Diwali when the incident occurred. Mehul Raval, another survivor, estimated that there were almost 300 people on the bridge when it collapsed.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Kanti Amrutiya, a former BJP MLA of Morbi, joined the rescue teams, offering support and assistance.
The incident has left the community in shock, with many individuals dead and numerous injured. The exact cause of the bridge's collapse is currently under investigation, and the community hopes for a swift resolution to ensure such an incident never happens again.
