In a series of events that took place over the past few days, a 38-year-old man from Hanau has been arrested and now faces criminal charges.

The incidents began on Monday evening in Erlensee, where an elderly man was assaulted during a conversation through an open window. The assailant, who was conversing with the pedestrian in the main street area before the argument started, punched the older man several times in the face and attempted to attack his wife. The assailant joined the conversation unprovoked, escalating into a physical altercation.

During the scuffle, the assailant is said to have injured the resident with an object. The police were swift to respond, and the suspect initially tried to flee upon seeing them but was quickly apprehended and taken to Langenselbold Police Station.

The press office for Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse provided information about the incident. The unknown assailant is already known to the police and now faces charges for suspected dangerous bodily harm.

On Monday, a pickup truck, an e-bike, and an e-scooter were stolen in Hammersbach, Mittelbuchen, and Hanau, respectively. The 38-year-old man from Hanau was arrested on Monday for suspected theft of these items.

The police found the stolen e-bike during a search of the suspect's apartment on the order of the Hanau Public Prosecutor's Office. Moreover, they found a flagged e-scooter, which had been reported missing in a theft.

In a separate incident on Tuesday morning at around 00:45, a driver lost control of his gray Kia Carens and ended up in a ditch near the Hanau Klein-Auheim exit on the federal road B43a. The incident is being investigated for suspected endangerment of traffic. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons and had to provide a blood sample.

The arrest was the result of a vigilant witness, swift police investigations, cooperation with the Hanau Public Prosecutor's Office, and the immediate action of officers from Langenselbold Police Station.

For inquiries, contact information for the press office is available. Further investigations are ongoing in both cases.
