In the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, the district of Neuss continues to navigate the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are the latest updates from the Neuss District Health Department:

On the public health front, the British virus variant B.1.1.7 has been detected in 373 cases among the currently infected individuals in the district. As of now, the South African variant B.1.351 has been detected in 3 cases.

The Rhein-Kreis Neuss is responsible for the regular Corona tests in the test centers of Neuss and Grevenbroich, as well as the mobile testing teams in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss area. Last week, a total of 2,162 PCR tests were conducted in these centers and through mobile testing teams, with 50 positive results. Additionally, a total of 9,124 antigen rapid tests were conducted by providers commissioned by the district last week, with 50 positive results.

The district health department has also established a hotline for important COVID-19 related questions. The hotline number is 02181/601-7777 and is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on weekends from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Sadly, the district has reported a total of 280 fatalities due to COVID-19, with a 76-year-old woman from Neuss being the latest casualty. As of now, 807 people in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss are currently positive for the coronavirus, with 63 hospitalized.

The 7-day incidence rate reported by the North Rhine-Westphalia Health Authority (LZG) for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss is currently 100.1.
