Syracuse divides two baseball games played on Friday with Buffalo
The Syracuse Mets and the Buffalo Bisons locked horns in a doubleheader at Sahlen Field on Friday, with the Mets emerging victorious in both games.
In the first game, the Mets found themselves trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Buddy Kennedy stepped up to the plate and delivered an RBI single, tying the game at 1-1. The Mets continued to push for runs, with Kevin Parada reaching base on an error and later scoring on an RBI single by Luke Ritter. The Mets extended their lead to 5-0, thanks to a three-run homer by RJ Schreck in the bottom of the third inning and an RBI double by Jose Azocar. The first game ended with a score of 5-1 in favour of the Mets.
The pitching performance by the Mets was commendable, with Alex Carrillo and Huascar Brazobán pitching stellar innings. Carrillo pitched the fifth inning without allowing a baserunner and struck out two batters, while Brazobán pitched the sixth inning without allowing a baserunner and struck out two batters as well.
In the second game, the Mets got off to a quick start. Jett Williams was issued a lead-off walk in the top of the fourth inning, and Carson Benge and Ryan Clifford followed with singles. Benge's single plated Williams, giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. The Mets added one more run in the fifth inning, and Yonny Hernandez had a single in the game.
The Mets' bullpen was efficient in game two, with Dom Hamel, Ty Adcock, Austin Warren, Dylan Ross, and Douglas Orellana all pitching scoreless innings. The second game ended with a score of 7-1 in favour of the Mets.
Looking ahead, the next game of the series between Syracuse and Buffalo is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Brandon Waddell will start for the Mets, while Alek Manoah will take the mound for the Bisons. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
The Mets will be hoping to carry the momentum from their doubleheader win into the next game and continue their winning streak. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if the Mets can secure another victory and take a commanding lead in the series.
