Team UAE Emirates-XRG triumphantly celebrate at the mountain finish of the 14th stage of Vuelta a España, repeating their victory.

In the 14th stage of La Vuelta a España 2025, Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe) maintained his lead in the white jersey classification. Meanwhile, the gap from the break to the bunch remained a steady 6:00.

Almeida's teammate Jay Vine continued to wear the polka dot King of the Mountains jersey, while Jai Hindley closed the gap on Pidcock, now trailing by 3:10. Unfortunately for Pidcock, a small setback saw him lose ten seconds to Hindley.

The peloton, now 22-strong once again, faced the first categorised climb of the day, which approached quickly. A chasing group of three - Asparren (Q36.5 Pro Cycling), Vansevenant (Soudal-QuickStep) and a rider from Team Picnic-PostNL - were attempting to bridge to the lead group.

The stage, beginning in Avilés and travelling 135.9 kilometres to La Farrapona, promised a challenging summit finish at Lagos de Somiedo. Despite being a relatively short stage, the peloton still had 3,805 metres of altitude gain to contend with.

Visma | Lease a Bike launched a series of attacks, with the road steadily heading uphill from this point onwards. The gap continued to stretch out, indicating it could be a good day for the breakaway. However, it eventually stabilised at 3:30.

Xabier Azparren (Q36.5 Pro Cycling) finally made it across to the breakaway group, and the toughest climbs of the day came very early on in the stage. Nine former Grand Tour winners featured in the breakaway group.

A large group pulled clear of the bunch, with a Visma rider following. Whether this rider was aiming to be part of the break or simply to review the composition of the group was unclear. The gap grew out over three minutes, as Campanaerts had to stop with a mechanical issue.

Mikkel Bjerg encouraged cooperation in the lead group, and Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) maintained his iron grip on the green points jersey. Dion Smith (Intermarché-Wanty) took the intermediate sprint, though it was uncontested. Marc Soler was first over the summit, defending the KOM lead of his teammate Jay Vine.

The best represented team was Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale, who had four riders. Jonas Vingegaard continued to lead the race, extending his lead to 48 seconds ahead of Almeida in second. Today's breakaway powered towards the first categorised climb of the day.

The gap to the peloton ballooned out over six minutes, currently standing at 6:20. Almeida, Vingegaard, and Hindley were involved in a chase group, while Soler was ahead in the lead. UAE Team Emirates, who have won 7 out of 14 potential stage wins in the race so far, allowed Soler to go for the stage win, while conserving Almeida's GC position.

In a thrilling finish, Marc Soler won stage 14 of La Vuelta a España 2025. Tomorrow's stage presents an interesting prospect, suggesting it could be one for the breakaway. The team UAE Team Emirates achieved the most stage wins on Day 14 of La Vuelta a España 2025, with Marc Soler winning the 14th stage and the team securing their seventh win overall in this Vuelta edition. Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) retains the red jersey as GC leader for the fourth consecutive day.
